Where impressive mountain panoramas and future tourism strategies meet, space is created for new ideas. For Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG in Bad Hofgastein, as an experienced playground manufacturer, we were able to realize a high-quality indoor play area at a mountain station – integrated into a restaurant.
The year-round appeal of Alpine excursion destinations is becoming increasingly important, especially in the wake of global warming and increasingly snow-free winters. In addition to the magnificent scenery and impressive views, this indoor playground creates an additional incentive for families to use the mountain railroads even on warmer or snow-free days. The project is a good example of how added value can be created for tourism regions.
The design is characterized by a deliberately natural, lively wood structure, which is accentuated by the striking orange lines of the Gastein mountain railroads. This striking wooden design gives the room identity and recognition value. As a playroom manufacturer, we rely on durable, robust and atmospheric materials – processed to a high standard and thought through down to the last detail.
Carved figures in the shape of small mice, inspired by the head of a mouse, lend the work loving detail. A three-part tower installation with slide forms the heart of the indoor playground. It is complemented by a playfully interpreted gondola – a charming homage to the mountain railroad itself. Further play value is provided by a climbing harp, a light gray crawl tunnel and two interactive play panels – including the popular “rabbit and hedgehog” motif. A distorting mirror brings movement and humor into play. Robust EPDM fall protection ensures safety and comfort. A seating area creates a pleasant environment for accompanying adults and underlines the family-friendly nature of the project. At the same time, it also offers the very youngest children the opportunity to have fun on the Schlossalm – even if they are not yet able to ride down the slope.
This project is an example of how professional playground design can contribute to the strategic development of tourist locations.
