Katharinenhöhe Rehabilitation Clinic, Schönwald (DEU)

An indoor playground that combines strength, adventure and therapeutic movement paths to create a fantastic play space.

Experience strength – movement as a path to strength

The Katharinenhöhe rehabilitation clinic in Schönwald has been given a new indoor play area spanning two floors, which not only provides children with fun, but also actively invites them to discover their strength, mobility and self-efficacy. As an experienced playground manufacturer and specialist for high-quality playroom design, we developed an indoor playground that combines adventure, therapeutic approaches and motor challenges – a modern playroom that is clearly characterized by quality, functionality and a loving wooden design.

The focus was not only on designing an attractive indoor playground, but also a play space that encourages children to build up strength and intuitively follow therapeutic paths. At the same time, the facility should be a place where exercise is fun, promotes a sense of achievement and contributes to long-term recovery.

A play area that awakens strength – with a must-have slide

The heart of the indoor playground is the large wooden adventure castle, combined with a high-quality stainless steel slide. The slide, equipped with portholes, conveys expanse and adventure – a visual highlight and at the same time a motoric stimulus, because climbing up, sliding down and running up again playfully challenge the children’s strength.

With therapeutic requirements in mind, we created versatile exercise stations that take different ability levels into account and specifically promote both coordination and muscle strength. The interplay of safe playground equipment, intelligently planned pathways and high-quality play space planning ensures a functional and at the same time emotionally appealing interior.

Variety that moves – therapeutic paths, fun and adventure

The play area combines a large number of special stations, which together create a varied, challenging and at the same time safe space for movement. The large adventure castle forms the impressive center of the area and invites children to make courageous ascents and descents. It is complemented by the “waterfall” climbing wall, which specifically promotes strength and balance exercises while offering children a motivating climbing experience. The floating platforms with integrated climbing net also challenge courage, surefootedness and coordination and create playful transitions between the individual elements.

Another highlight is the lorry tower with a lattice tube, which stimulates both dexterity and a sense of direction. The adjacent skywalk with net bridge opens up new perspectives and encourages children to find their own way – sometimes carefully, sometimes daringly, but always well secured and with a clear sense of their own body.

This variety enables children to discover a wide range of different ways – exactly what is needed in rehabilitation. Whether strength training, coordination, endurance or small tests of courage: The play area animates, challenges and gives pleasure. This creates a space that motivates children to move, develop their skills and build new self-confidence through play.

Therapy meets adventure – the aim of play space design

Clearly defined goals were at the heart of the construction of the plant:

  • Animation & Motivation
  • Physiotherapeutic support in various ways
  • Strengthening power as a core element
  • Mastering challenges, boosting self-confidence
  • Fun & joy as the basis of every movement

The result is an indoor playground that is not only of high quality, but also offers a real experience – a space where children can let off steam, grow and regain their strength.

With our experience as play space manufacturers and experts in high-quality play space planning, we have created a play area that combines long-term exercise, therapy and playful motivation.
