Where wood meets imagination, a place is created where children can immerse themselves in other worlds through play – as in the new Holzgerlingen play farm. The lovingly designed play area invites children to discover life on the farm with all their senses – whether on the back of carved animals, in the stable, on the tractor or in the middle of the play barn. Each area is individually designed, with warm materials and well thought-out play space design that not only inspires, but also encourages.
Two groups of riding animals form the start of the imaginative indoor playground. Detailed carved sheep, goats, pigs and foals invite you to climb on, stroke them and make up stories. A riding horse, donkey and cow complete the small herd – all handmade unique pieces that are the centerpiece of high-quality wood design.
The combination of pony stable and vet is particularly charming: here a pony stands halfway out of the wall, and right next to it the vet is waiting with his little patient – a chicken with a “broken foot”. Children can playfully experience what care and responsibility mean and immerse themselves in the world of animals.
Of course, a tractor is also a must: With a sliding blade, steering wheel, rattling cogwheel motor and window seat, driving becomes an adventure. Here, the joy of movement, coordination and imagination are encouraged in equal measure – a successful example of well thought-out indoor playground equipment.
The large play barn with climbing net, peep-through net, carved mouse and net transition leads directly into the two-storey farmhouse – the heart of the play area. Lovely details are hidden here: a treasure chest that lights up and sounds when opened, a play stove, a fireplace with light and sound effects, small chairs, a tube telephone and even a carved cockerel.
The design creates an environment that harmoniously combines a spirit of discovery, sensory experience and role play.
In the outdoor area, two raised beds with fruit patches round off the play area design. Here, children can “harvest” fruit and vegetables and playfully experience where their food comes from – a wonderful conclusion to an indoor playground that combines nature, sustainability and imagination.
