Many an adult has been spotted here with sand between their toes – no wonder, the new water playground at Duisburg Zoo is simply too beautiful to just watch.

Barefoot in the cycle of nature

Together with the zoo team, we have created a water mud facility that inspires children – and has a lasting effect at the same time. Balancing over climbing nets, swinging on the swing seat or hurtling down the slide – it’s all great fun. But the heart of it all is the concept behind it: The water that the children play with does not disappear into the ground, but is collected, stored and reused.

Sustainable water mud system

Underground cisterns collect the water and later feed it into the zoo trees’ irrigation system. In this way, the play water becomes part of a real cycle and supports the environment directly on site. Every little water course, every splash, every mud hill contributes to the benefit of nature – a project in which children play, discover and at the same time learn that resources are valuable.

For us as a playground equipment manufacturer, this project was a matter close to our hearts. It combines what we stand for: creative playground design, high-quality materials and the joy of well thought-out, sustainable solutions.
